Toward Fraudulent Pesticides in Rural Areas: Do Farmers’ Recognition and Purchasing Behaviors Matter?

The growth of fraudulent pesticide trade has become a threat to farmers’ health, agrochemical businesses, and agricultural sustainability, as well the environment. However, assessment levels exposure pesticides in literature is often limited. This paper conducted quantitative study recognition purchasing behaviors with regard Dakhalia governorate Egypt. Using structured questionnaire, data were collected by face-to-face interviews 368 farmers three districts governorate. questionnaire included questions on socioeconomic characteristics, risk perception, behavior, behavior regarding pesticides. findings indicate that perceived high risks farmer health crop yield (a score 4 out 5) moderate environment (3.5 from Nonetheless, nearly three-fourths had purchased anyway. statistical analysis suggests who resist have higher education, longer experience farming, better To improve ability distinguish avoid pesticides, recommends communication-related anti-counterfeiting measures such awareness extension programs, distribution cooperation other stakeholders.
